On the 2000 serie's,Massey's, Is the shifter alway's kinda stiff, when you clutch it, or can you lube it in there for smoother action,
seem's as though it could be a little smoother in the throw's as I drive mine, and it,s ok, but it could be a little better I think,
as it knda stick's just a little, and sometime's when i go into second range, it's a little bit stiff, in the movement,
again , it's a 2745 V8,
kirk,

Hey Kirk, does it sometimes pop out of one particular gear or another? Also is it really hard to get it into some gears?Jogl mentioned the rubber spider conector in the linkage,we replaced the one in our 3505 which has a similar type of gear selection set up,and we had all the problems that i mentioned and that fixed them all.Just have someone shift the gears while the tractor isn't running and has the wheels fully blocked(I'm sure you would know much better too,but would hate to hear of someone getting run over lol)to see if the shifter travels more than the linkage below the conection.best of luck buddy pd.

Ours has always been sticky. Have to sort of whack it a little to shift sometimes. You learn to whack it just hard enough for a one gear at a time shift. If I try to just shift it sometimes I go too far and shift up or down two gears at a time. That's not good.

I had to replace the rubber spider where the shift linkages connect into the transmission one time so I cleaned and lubed the linkages. It helped a little. Always meant to clean and lube it a little better but haven't got around to it.

JP.
