Remote hydraulic pump drive on MF65

HI,

I have just lost the front hydraulic pump drive on my old MF65. I was making my way back to the shop with a load in the FEL bucket (to dump en route) when I lost all hydraulics. I checked the oil level and that is fine. I covered the tractor with a tarp as is started raining heavily, so didn't get to get under the front to look at it.

I haven't worked on these pump units so how is the pump drive shaft driven? Is it a coupling with bolts, driving dogs, threaded end into end of crankshaft? Anyone familiar with these - I could sure do with a few pointers to help. It is raining cats and dogs outside at the moment so am unable to do anything for the time being. Will look as soon as the weather clears up.

Thanks in advance for any tips or enlightenment.

Thx,

J.

Well,

The rain quit so I was able to get out to look at the tractor. The drive shaft for the pump is sheared just inside the neck of the two bolt flange that bolts to the front of the crank detuner (?). I was able to get the tractor down to the shop - disconnected the bucket (full of dirt) and drive down with the loader arms 6"off the ground. Have it in place to work on it tomorrow (start).

Now, can this small flange be accessed by removing the radiator and working down from the top of the space? The fan belt goes over this detuner to the pulley, so there should be enough room to unbolt and remove this small (6"dia)flange. I am trying to avoid having to take the whole of the front end off, if at all possible. So if any of you knowledgeable chaps could enlighten me I sure would appreciate it. In the meantime I have a bit of reading to do.

Thx in advance,

J.

John...not sure about the 65, but my 165 I was able to install the drive hub w/o removing anything but the alternator. Very tight & slow going to get the cap screws installed. Toughest part is getting any torque on the wrench & I had to bump the engine over w/ the starter to get to all four cap screws.
