I just acquired an Orchard 135 and have ordered manuals, but have some basic questions to help get me started. I'm new to MF but familiar with older Fords. 1. The PTO lever is 3 position. Back is On, center is neutral, Forward is ??? Locked? 2. 2 stage clutch. There is only about 2" of action at the bottom of the clutch pedal to disengage the PTO. Is this normal? Is it adjustable. Thanks for your help. Steve

PTO positions are Engine speed (approx. 18/50th of engine rpms) - Neutral - Ground Speed (1rpm of pto shaft for ever 20" of ground travel)

Your tachometer should show an engine speed that gives you 540 rpm at the pto. That's engine speed.

Neutral is neutral

Ground speed was for several implements that never really caught on. PTO driven hay rake being the most common. It actually works quite well on SOME pto driven manure spreaders. Be careful. When in Ground speed pto position, pto shaft turns in reverse when you back up the tractor. Some implements don't like that.

Clutch pedal should have 2" to 2-1/2" travel in pto portion of travel. That's normal.

The PTO forward is ground speed - PTO RPM's coordinate with the speed of the tractor. I've never used mine in that position. Yes, it only takes about 2 inches of pedal to disengage the PTO if all is adjusted properly. Get the manuals, but also, and even more important, get Big Dean's CD. Far better information than the manuals.
