MF 235 disel fuel pump went bad. Instaled a new one. Deceided to change fuel filter while system was down. I have tried to bleed the system but cannot get any fuel beyond the fuel filter. Manual pumping of the fuel pump barely puts a trickle of fuel out the first bleed-off screw on the injector pump. What?, Why?

Hi all for what its worth if the hand pump is not pumping much crank the engine a little the cam can have the pump on a pump stoke and you may not be getting a full stoke

I have just replaced the Lift Pump, fuel line, & Filters, I did bleed the new line,& filters. but have still come up with an air pocket somewhere. It fired up and then stopped. I have used the manual lever on the lift pump, I can feel it pump until the presure comes up. I have done this a dozen times or so, and still not starting. is there a shortcut. I didn"t see any air bleeds on the injector pump. What am I missing? Help

TLD:

I changed both primary and secondary fuel filters on both of my MF-35s last year.

It takes forever to prime the system. On the second one I counted the lift pump strokes and it took over 1,200 strokes to fully prime both filters. It helps considerably to slightly pressurize the tank.

Once I had fully primed the filters it then took several bleeding efforts to get all of the air out. I ended up with quite a bit of time in both.

If you got it past the filters, now is the time to crank it with the starter. Manually pumping it aint gonna bleed the injection pump very well.

Crack a line loose on the pump and crank it, then close it when it come out solid fuel. May start as soon as you've got the 1st one bled. Otherwise it may take 2.

Even on our bigger Oliver 1855,(6 cyl) it's starts right up as soon as I've got the 2nd one bled, if not after the 1st no problems.
