The tractor s/n will also be located on frame or top of transmission on left side about where your left foot would go on most MH - it will be steel stamped and may be 2 lines - if its an early 44 it will start 44GR if its a gas row crop or 44GS if its gas standard - other letters possible - if its a late 44 it will most likely start 44 G1RF or 44 G1SF the actual s/n will be 4 or 5 digits either to right or below 44 G1SF. Post the actual letters / numbers and we can decode for you.

Also you might try to get engine s/n which will be steel stamped into flat on right side of block just below head Again it may be 2 lines top probably MHA260G and s/n probably 5 digits possibly with a space and followed by a 5 if you are real lucky and have a high altitude variant.

The serial plate on the 44 and most other massey tractors is on the clutch side just below the battery tray on the main frame.
