I've got a MF135D w/high oil pressure. The guage stays pegged while operating...cold or hot. What's up? I had the engine rebuilt last fall.

Howard -

Two possibilities - incorrect pressure gauge reading, or the pressure relief valve set too high on the (presumably new replacement) oil pump.

It's probably the latter - and correcting it is a pain. The earlier Perkins had a big plate in the bottom of the pan you could get up inside to adjust. The pan has to come off the later ones.

There are washers behind the relief valve spring which are removed to lower pressure; on one occasion we had to shorten the spring a coil or so.

To make the problem worse, you have to reinstall the pan and run it to check after each adjustment.

Do you have any help from the overhaul facility?

Jack, Thanks for the response. I don't think the oil pump was changed with the overhaul. I'll have to check with my father-in-law to see. He's owns the tractor. I'll change the oil and filter and see if that corrects the problem, if not, I'll take it to the shop. I'm not a mechanic.

Howard.
