Ric,

Big Dean and others on the forum will recommend that you always push DOWN on the gear shift when changing gear - apparently this helps to prevent jamming.

Hi,
Stuck in gear is not normally a big problem as you have found out from experience.
Make sure there is no tension in the transmission.
Block the clutch pedal down. Make sure the tractor is free to rock back and forth. You could even jack one rear wheel clear of the ground. Block the front wheel and let the brakes off.
Are you sure you are pushing on the right selector?
Looking through the oil fill it will be the furthest one that needs to be moved rearwards.
Check for wear in the gear lever pivot pin and cup.
Cheers

hi david when i look through the fill hole all i can see is somekind of cover looking part with a small square headed bolt with a piece of wire through it to hold it in place. its been a year or so sence i have looked in here and i dont remember seeing this part. looks to me like it needs to be moved one direction or the other so i can see to line things up. its right there staring right at me not letting me see anything hope this makes sence RICK

Glad to help. I keep a long screwdriver and a wrench for the plug in the fender box for this purpose. It seems mine hangs up when the front end is pointed down a steep hill and I try to go to reverse.
