I have a MF 85 ( with drop boxes ) & both rear axle seals leak. I called my local MF dealer & they said they are no longer available from MF. It appears I have to pull it apart & try to measure and/or cross ref. the old seals at my local automotive store. Does any know what size these seals are or replacement part numbers? I would like to order the seals in advance, if possible. Also, I have experience working on tractors, but have not had to pull the axles out on this tractor before. Does anyone know any shortcuts, tricks, or troubles doing this type of work?
Thanks alot!
Jeff

I replaced my MH30 1949 rear seals with
no problem getting them. In fact I botched one
and had to re-order. Got it next day. Are you saying you ordered/ordering seals
without bringing in the old ones?. If so take
the old ones in for a match. If you still have
problems change supplier, they are still available. One word on seals, try to get the spring loaded ones. The spring holds back the pressure
of the weight of the oil and makes a better grip. If not, try to get them with a double rubber
lip. They usually come in single or double and with same stock number but you may have to ask
for it specifically. Spring loaded is the best.
If you find it still leaks and you didn't damage
them, drive the tractor around a bit to better
the contact, that should fix it.
