I was wondering if you 65/165 guys ever check your fuel "mileage". I did some heavy brush hogging this past weekend, maybe 12-15 hours total. The 165D used about 10 gal. of fuel. I knew these perkins diesels were frugal, but that is better than I expected.

Yep - seems I can mow a full day on about half a tank also. My MF 165D seems to get about the same good fuel use as my smaller MF 135D, maybe it doesn't work as hard. No complaints here. I just top off the tank with fresh fuel after each time I run it to keep the tank full.

Thanks Finn, I'm not so good at keeping her topped off. Amazing how the 165 is so reliable w/ so little tlc.

The 4-203 is a 4 cylinder version of the 3-152 so it should have outstanding fuel economy. The 3-152 in an MF150 held the title of most fuel efficient tractor for many years before electronics and new technology came along. The 135 with the same engine was a very close second. Your 165 probably barely has to work with your mower. Dave

Your right Dave, the 6' hog doesn't challenge the 165 much, even in the heaviest stuff. I'm trying to get the old 8' Mohawk repaired(you can see it in the background)to put back in service. Should be a better match.
