Just discovered new leak of hydraulic fluid coming from around the PTO shaft. This is a 1962 MF65 with loader, Perkins Diesel and two stage clutch. Is this fix something I can do from outside, or is this going to be a split-the-tractor deal? Otherwise, the tractor runs / operates great!

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave -

If this is oil leaking around the PTO shaft at the rear, running down onto the drawbar, it's likely PTO shaft seal and/or O-ring.

Replaced by pulling the PTO shaft - no split needed. You'll have to drain the oil (8 gal or so - probably needs changing anyway!) or back the tractor up a 30 - 40 degree bank to move the oil to the front.

According to my parts book, the seal is 195 506 M1, O-ring 185 522 M1 (2 7/8" x 3 1/4" x 3/16").

Aftermarket about $13 Cdn. plus postage.

Thank you sir!
I'm going to try to look into this one evening after work if I get the chance. Otherwise it'll wait until next weekend. Doesn't sound too bad. I was dreading the thought of having to split that baby! Thanks again!
