That is really beautiful, great job. I also have a 40, well mine is the earlier model it is just the "40 industrial" I am currently in the middle of rebuilding the engine in mine. It does have the perkins 152. She was really tired and had not had alot of love so to speak. About 12000 hrs.

Good luck to you. They are really wonderful tractors

This machine has the powershuttle gearbox with full independant PTO and 3 point linkage.
One of the better industrial machines for the era.Can work on ag aswell as PTO does not run through the torque convertor. In board wet brakes.
It's the same rear end as the MF250.

Thanks for the coments.

This machine is basically the same as a 30E but has hydro steering.I have 2 40E this one is the non turbo version.

I believe some earlier 40 series had a Perkins 4cyl.The 30 series had the 3cyl.

Real nice to see some one restore an industrial tractor. I've got a 30B made in 1980. Do you know what the differences are between the 30 and 40 series?

The older 30's had 4 cylinder while the 40's had the 3 cylinder. The older 40's were called a hard nose because they had a very heavy frame around the rad. When the B series came out the 30 got the 3 cylinder and the 40 got the 4 cylinder. According to info in the world wide guide, the 40E has a turbo 3 cylinder rated at 60 HP. Dave

That is a real nice looking paint job. I am in the final seal up/scuff down phase. Looking forward to spraying some flint gray metallic real soon. Thanks for sharing the pics. Anything helps get some MoJo back into my project.
