Hi all,

First off, thanks to everyone whose offered input on my 175 steering issue. I've finally got power in both directions. Still a lot of play, even with the box tightened and new bushings, pins and swivel and drag link end. Now it only has power steering above idle (+- 1000 rpm. When I serviced the pump, I removed the releif valve to clean it. Probably should'nt have. Whats the best setup for checking my steering pump's output and that of multipower (it does'nt work, but I think it's the linkage) and that of the rear remotes. If I find the steering pump is not putting out what the manual specs, how is the adjustment made, turn the slotted screw in or out, my manual doesn't cover this adjustment. I understand that a "t" fitting is usually needed so that the pumps isn't deadheaded. Thanks for all the help.

John

It sounds like you may have lost the little ball at the end of the relief valve on the steering It happened to me on a 65 once and I thought it was the PS pump too. Should be a spring and a ball about one eighth dia at the end. On the multipower. If you think its the linkage, try lifting the rod that pokes out of the trans housing under the battery. That may be it but it can also be a failure in the line from the multpower pump to the clutch pack ( inside the tarns)and its actuator. You have to take the lid of the trans to see but to fix it you have to split the tractor and remove the line.
