After running for 4 hours, I shut off the tractor to refuel (3 cyl-diesel). 5 minutes later, I couldn't restart it. The first time I turned the key, the starter clicked, but the engine did not turn over. Each time afterwards, no click, no noise, no nothing.
Is there a way to troubleshoot besides pulling off the starter and send to a dealer?
THANKS!!!
Dan

That's the way my starter acted when it quit.

Hi Dan,
Does your 35 have an ammeter? If so is it showing a charge? What is the condition of the battery?
Have you tried using another battery?
If all of the above are good then a starter solenoid seems likely.

DavidP,
The ampmeter says the battery is good, and I checked it with a voltmeter and it shows a strong 12V+.

Thanks for the feedback!!
Dan

Dan:

Although your symptoms could be caused by multiple problems, they are classic of poor connections.

Start by cleaning and tightening ALL of the battery cable connections (both ends). If the cables are corroded or are not 0 gauge or larger replace them with properly sized cables.

Then check the connections at the solenoid, both large and small. Finally, check the connections at the neutral start switch and the ignition switch.

If you do not find the problem in this fashion, suspect the solenoid or starter.
