Well,We tried all day today to get her started. There are 2 sets of dots on the cam gear. We tried on those marks AND 180 drgrees out. I guess the only thing left it could be is the Distributor timing with the oil pump and cam. Can someone tell me which way the rotor points when it is TDC? The dist. has the flat end on it and we've also tried it 180 degrees out also. It acts like it wants to run, but it just backfires, so I know it's a timing issue. Thanks in advance.

The (2) marks on the cam gear go on both sides of the mark on the crankshaft gear. Turn the engine over by hand and stop when number 1 is at the top on the compression stroke. Install distributor and connect number 1 plug to the teerminal that the rotor is pointing to. You should then be close enough to run.

When you put in dist. make sure the rotor is in line with the block long ways, front to back.
