Hey guys, I have been searching for a pair of 16.9x38 used tires for some time now with no luck. I have placed several wanted ads and still nothing. Once upon a time someone told me I could put 18.4x38 on the same rims I have. Found a set at my local dealer but he told me he would not recommend putting the 18.4's on a 1085.

Could anyone give some advice on Why or Why Not to use 18.4 on a 1085??? or the bigger question do you have any idea where to look for a used 16.9??

Thanks for the help

13.6, 15.5, 16.9 were the 38 inch options on the 1085. 18.4x34 was the most popular standard tire for the 1085. The only thing I can think of is that the 38 inch rim doesn't give clearance with fenders or cabs. My guess is that it will tip the tractor forward and throw off oil levels and their accuracy on the dipsticks. Other than that, the weight of a filled tire on a 38 inch rim isn't that far off from a 23 inch wide tire which was another option.
