Hello, can any one tell me where I can find stabilizer bars for my MF 1085? If not how can I make them? I dont quite understand where they hook up.I have the chains, but can"t see how that will keep implements from swaying back and forth.Brush Hog and middle buster plow is very hard to work on a hill with the 3-point hitch swaying from side to side....

Thanks Dale

Thanks a lot guys. Sounds like I need to get the brackets first, and then look into either buying or fabricating the bars. Thanks again for all the info....

Stablizer brackets off a 1080, 285 or 1085 will work and should be fairly easy to come by at the major tractor salvage yards. The bars are hard to find and it's hit or miss if the yards have them in stock. I ended up making one for my 1080 out of one from a super 90. Bars from a 1080, 285, 1085, 1100, 1130, 1150 are all the same. Try Worthington Ag parts as a good place to start.

Good Luck
Merle

I needed some for my 1080 and got them from Pittsburgh Tractor, the MF dealer and LARGE salvage dealer in Pittsburgh Texas. Call them at 800-342-6568. You will need the brackets that bolt to the axle housing and the stabliizer bars that go from them to the stud on the lower three point arm. They will work fine once you get all the parts. Good luck!!

Your local tractor supply store should have an adjustable unit. If your tractor doesn't have a factory casting bracket under the fender/cab mounts, you will need to fabricate one. The chains are not the same as a solid mount.

Those cheapie brackets and bars may work fine on a smaller tractor with a cat 1 hitch, but they'd never work on a Cat 2 hitch...

I might be mistaken but arent there usually short lengths of chains that connect the two lower arms to the center of the tracter at the very bottom of the machine under the drivers seat? Dont those keep your assembly from kicking side to side?
