I have a problem with a 135 hyd. system I can't figure out. The lift quit and the response lever slid to "slow" at the same time.Tried to check the pressure-had no oil flow to the test plug. Took the inspection port and the top cover off. Pump will pump oil when I move the pump valve control lever rearward. I took the pump out and took the valve assy. apart expecting to find a broken spring-but not. Can't really find any problems. Does anyone know what makes the valve control lever move rearward to the 'pump' position? Thanks greatly for any insight!

Thanks again David P.I think I have found the problem, with the help of some local friends. It seems a retaining ring that holds the two parts of the valve together has slipped off,so now there is no spring action pulling the valve into the pump position. Now,if I can figure out how to get the very small internal circlip out of the inside of the valve spool, maybe I will be on the road to recovery?I guess a small screwdriver and some patience?

Hi,
The control valve lever is spring loaded and as soon as the quadrant control is moved to the 'raise' position the vertical lever will move back and allow the pump lever to move into the pumping position. When you raise the POSITION lever on the quadrant, is the pump is the pump lever being allowed to move rearwards. If not it suggests a fault in the linkage in the hydraulic cover, possibly something bent.

Thank you David P. for your reply. When the quadrant lever is moved to 'raise' the vertical lever moves back as it should, but the pump cont. valve lever does not move back to allow the oil to flow. I can push it back against the vertical lever and the pump will work.Is the oil pressure inside the pump/valve supposed to hold the pump lever back to the vertical lever at all times? Thanks again!

Hello,
We're on the way! The problem appears to be a sticking control valve. Several things will cause this. Firstly having stripped the pump did you refit the oscillator? This is the link between the cam on the pump shaft and the tube surrounding the control spring. It is there to keep the control valve free. Early ones were made of aluminium and tended to break, later ones of steel. Has the split-pin been fitted to the retaining pin?
It is occasionally possible to refit the back plate and filter body a little off-line which results in the control valve sticking and not moving freely.
Finally overheating of the oild can cause the valve to stick but that does not appear to be the case here.
