From what I understand, Simpson was a licensed builder for Perkins. Was something wrong with your 1540?

I am interested in baling some small acreage, about 15, and I didn't think that the 1540 , weighing in at 2800 lbs would safely handle a 3000 lb baler. The 1540 also had a mere 31 PTO HP. So, I upgraded to the 543 which has nearly twice the weight with an additional 14 PTO HP. Thanks for your response.
