Friend of mine just aquired a Massey Ferguson 35c and he is in the process of changing the fluids. What do you suggest for the transmission oil.

Jim,
My manual is very clear, and so are the other contributors on this site. Use S. A. E. 90 straight mineral gear oil. It is available from MF dealers. What I have seen mentioned is any other is hard on the gaskets. I'm sure somebody will jump in here and confirm. By the way, the transmission, Ferguson System and differential share the same oil. Total capacity if drained properly with the Quadramatic control levers in the lower position is 8 U.S. or 6.7 Imperial gallons. This is straight our of my manual, and I welcome any different ideas if something has changed.

I second what CT said. GO to a MF/AGCO dealer and get the Permatran. There are cheaper brands, but remember, you are not just paying for a name. the oil is better quality.

Take care,

Will
