I have a MF40 industrial backhoe/loader that I have just split as it was leaking ATF from the inspection plate under the torque converter. All that I can see is some damage to the seal on the front of the torque converter pump. What else should I look for?
Cheers
Bill

Sounds exactly as i have with my MF50, seal damage and leaking when it moved if it moved.
I have the torque convertor out for checking and plan to pull the shuttle shift spool and pump for a check.
It will be a while but i am checking your message in case you get any info and will add what i find on mine.
Waiting for big deans disc to arrive before surgery begins, it will take a while to get play time.
standing by.

Hi Phil25, I have Big Dean's CD and some good tips on it. Big Dean advised me via email that "The most common thing that causes that problem is the converter to pump seal but there is a small line in there that feeds the pressure checking port I have seen a few of those brake and I have seen the converter split also. What ever it is causing the leak the tractor will have to be split to repair it. Big Dean" - hope this helps, Cheers, Bill

Hi there, my disc is in process, and is good to know about that line, my was twisted off when the test plug was seized, and the entire unit turned, so i have a new line for it regardless.
i will be away for a while, so mine has to wait till Sept.
if you get into the reason maybe post a message around end of August about it?,sounds like we both will need seal[s] and part numbers, etc
thanks
