My new to me MF 202 was converted to 12V altenator. How do you drive the tach whcih was driven off of the generator.

Anyone know the part number for the hydralic filter behind the grill?

The Perkins gas engine drives its tachometer off the engine camshaft. That's a drastic swap to make just to run the tachometer.

Loosing the tachometer is a downfall of the alternator and I've had very good results with a generator on my MF-135. Several days this year I used a 12 volt 12 amp sprayer that I ran constantly for hours at a time and the generator kept up.

There may be some electronic tachometers, you might search for tachometer on this forum, might even be some with hour meters. My MF-135 came with a dash mounted electric hour meter (probably made by Hobbs) but it was not working. I had another on my shelf and put it on after sealing it with RTV and its worked fine ever since. I had to replace the tachometer cable once too. I recall J.C. Whitney has had an electronic tachometer with 10 rpm steps and was almost large enough to fit the original tachometer hole. Try a hot rod shop too, though most of theirs have a speed range that goes too high to be convenient on a tractor limited to 2500 rpm.

Re: Filter,

I don't know if this helps but I just changed the one on my 175, the Agco number is 191855M4.
