I am planning to use my fingerbar (sickle) mower soon but the PTO on my MF 35 stops when the clutch is in, even when it is in Engine Speed setting (not ground speed). It doesn't starts turning again until the clutch is out and tractor moving. What is the cause of this, and will it be impossible to mow with this problem??
Thanks

Croitear

My owners manual for my TO35 says that the tractor has the dual clutch if it has the ground speed option. I have the same problem. My tractor acts like it has a single stage clutch. Could this be an adjustment problem or worn out secondary clutch? Thanks in advance, Chuck Nantz

The tractors I grew up with did not have power steering or live pto. Didnt have a problem with it.It takes a little practice bu you should be ok with it. Will the pto operate with transmission in nueteral.

I don't think it has a dual clutch but i can check the serial number (where will i find this)

The PTO will not start to turn until the tractor begins to move

There should be a plate riveted on the right side of the dash, near the starter key or light switch. C. T.

If you provide your serial number (complete, with the alphabetic characters), we can identify whether your 35 should have the dual clutch or not. An "M" in the third position means "Dual clutch".

Well, the 35 did not have a live PTO, but instead should have a two stage clutch type. What you have to do is get use to using the clutch to drive the PTO first stage while controlling the movement with the second. Used this type of drive for years before even knowing there was such a thing as a live PTO when I was a kid!

Some 35's and even some 135's were sold without even so much as the 2 stage clutch. They were economy models.

I have a TO 35 and the owners manual indicates that tractors with the tractometer, ground speed pto, deluxe seat were Deluxe models with a 2 stage clutch. My tractor has all this but if it has a 2 stage clutch it does not work. It does not have an M in the serial number. Any ideas? Thanks, Chuck Nantz
