JJ. in BC is right. Run the string through the needles (spears) and tie the ends of the string somewhere to the frame. When the baler cycles it will catch the string and cut it. You can then cut the string end that you tied off to the frame and bale some hay. The first bale won't be tied, but every bale after should be.

Hi,
To add my two cents worth from a lot of user experience.
The easiest place to tie the ends to is the needle yoke as shown in JJ's picture. The cut ends can be removed after. Turn the baler by hand or slow PTO to place the cord in the twine discs.
Stop the machine and remove the single knots from the billhooks. These may foul the next knot. You should then be OK to start.
When joining a new pack of cord the ends should be tied as short as possible. I have found that rolling the knot between your hands makes it easier to run through the knotter. Cord packs are around 8000 in length and it only takes 1 1/4" knot to cause problems.

It"s been years since I saw a bailer like that one, run the twine through the guides, think there is something to keep tention on the twine behind the box where you put the twine in, then run each string through a needle and tie the end off, if the knotter isin"t all plugged up with junk it should tie, think the only problem we ever had was from all the junk that collects around the knotter, left the cover up all the time when we bailed and that helped..

Don't know anything about MF balers, but know enough to know you need a manual for your baler. You should be able to get an Operator Manual and a Parts Manual at your MF dealer. Tom
