I have a massey 30-B IND with loader- I think!!! It has a perkins 3 cyl engine. I need to change the oil and am wondering if I can use synthetic(mobil 1. 15-50). I use this in the all my truck motors with great results here in michigan. If I can't use synthetic then can anyone tell what weight oil to put in it? By the way, just split it and changed the clutch and p-plate with a heck of a lot of help from an elderly mechanic. Thank god unlike doctors- mechanics still make house calls.
thanks
tom

I switched from castrol heavy duty desiel 15w40 to Amsoil 15w40 heavy duty desiel and have been very pleased. I used to have the oil preasure fall off after 4 hours use on my massey 65, but with the Amsoil synthetic the preasure holds up good and the vaporization is down, I don't go through as much oil.

I also use Amsoil 10w30 in my 91 Dodge pickup (been using it since new) and with a 108,000 miles on it, I only go through about a quart of oil a year (I only change the oil once a year)

I also use the 10w30 in my lawn equipement.

Overall I've been very pleased with the synthetic oil.

Dave

Tom,
I use Mobil One, 15W-50, in my Massey. I really like it. It runs smooth and starts good in cold weather. If you try it I think you will like it. It is rated for diesels.

I would not use synthetic. Use a good diesel oil like Delo. If you will be running in winter use 10-30. Also get a block heater of some type.
