I have a MF175D with an auxillary pump John Deere loader. The loader was losing capacity and I discoveered I was running the wrong hydraulic fluid, so I drained and replaced it (but I didn't replace the filter it sounds like it may be cleanable?) After refilling my front loader works about the same, but I have no lift at all on my 3-point. PTO also works fine. While I was poking around I also pulled the oil transfer plate, and may have reinstalled the ?Shaft? wrong. Obviously I know very little about this and would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Hello John,
First of all, are the rams on your loader double-acting? Oil may be passing the seals. If you are running the loader off the internal auxillary pump you may have wear in the pump which will give you reduced output and pressure. There are two filters inside, one on the Ferguson pump which can be removed through the left hand side cover and the one for the aux pump which will require the tractor to be split between the gearbox and centre housing to gain access. I do not think that this is a filter problem.
You refer to the 'oil transfer plate', I assume that this is the small plate on the front of the hydraulic cover. Yes, it is possible to put it back wrong. If you have Pressure Control on the tractor you will not be able to remove the tube.
I suspect that the tube or stack pipe is not engaged in the pump. Remove the cover and inspect the O ring and PTFE washer for damage and check the pipe for being straight as far as you are able. Replacing it is a matter of 'fishing' around until you feel it begin to enter the chamfer in the pump body. Check that the plate is parallel with the hyd cover and that the small O ring is in place and tap down gently with the handle of a hammer. It should enter and remain there.
Please let us know how you get on.
