I'm in the process of rebuilding a MF35 Industrial with 3 cylinder Perkins diesel. Is there a way to remove old cyl. liners and replace with new ones without specialized tools? Your help will be appreciated! Old liners look good. What about honing and new rings without new liners and pistons?

Very crudly speaking, you will lose 10%life for every .001" taper if you rering. this means that .oo3" taper get 30% less life. To pull sleeve you need to have a stepped puck made with a hole in it. Use threaded rod and spacers to pull sleeve. Freeze the sleeves and heat the block with ready heater to install.

I had mine removed/installed atn engine machine shop. Cleanliness is critical! They are thin sleevs, and anything will cause distortion. Also, the shop should mike the bores after installation.
While you are at it, the shop should check and size the rods.

clearence is critacal in a diesel in order to get good compression and longer service,so if you are going to rering it then put in new sleeves.a rebuild kit is not very expensive for this engine.turn the block hesd surface down and use a small bladed screwdriver, drive it in between the sleeve and block the sleeve is thin and will tear easily, continue to drve the driver thru the lenght of the sleeve.grind off sharp edges of the screwdriver before you start.put the new sleeves in a freezer the day before you install them and they will press in easily.also you want to use finished sleeves, not semi-finished.if you use semi-finished sleeves you will have to have them surfaced after they are installed
