Neighbor has MF1500 needing steering belts.
Belts have engine drive shaft going thru center.
I'm aware of 8 drive shaft bolts to be removed.
Something has to be done with belt sheave.
Can anyone enlighten me?

remove the four bolts at the trans. end first,then pry sheave rearward away from drive hub(not the shaft with the rubber bushings)(you may need a sharp chisel to drive down into the seem,) in order to pop the snap ring from its groove.Then remove the other four bolts.

Remove the bolts and the "dog bone" should come out. The rubber bushings should back off enough for it to come out without too much beating. Good time to check and/or replace bushings to stave off failure later. Tighten bolts well and keep all belts tight.
