I noticed some off and on exhaust popping yesterday. It's the same sound as when I shut off the fuel to run it out of gas when I shut her down. I pulled the inlet off and ran some gas into a can, good flow. So I took off the carb imlet fitting to check the screen, and, no screen.
There is one at the glass bowl outlet on the tank. When I put the fitting back in the carb, it tightened up 1/4 of a turn past where it needs to be for the inlet line to connect. I turned it a bit more but I didn't like the feel of it, like the threads were going to strip. So backed off and lined it up to the line and attached it, but the threads in the carb leak a bit. I need to get the screen anyway, should I get a new fitting? What will strip first, the brass fitting or the body? Is the body iron? Thanks.

I know that you didn't ask this question but when you want to check fuel delivery, check it by removing the plug at the bottom of the M-S carb. That way you check fuel delivery all the way through the float valve. It should CONTINUOUSLY gush out LIKE A COW PEEEIN' ON A FLAT ROCK.

Tractor Supply (TSC) sells the fittings. They normally stock them.

u can buy a new fitting randy that comes with a new screen---or u can simply use Teflon seal tape around the threads--go around 3 or four times---good luck----john
