Massey 44
It seems when I move the throttle lever I can't get the RPM's to go up. I'm not familiar with this particular tractor but I know on my Allis and Ford when I move the throttle lever the RPM's are increased. I've disconnected the carb to governor lever rod > moved the lever on the quadren about 2/3 of the way down which tightens the spring on the governor > Then I adjusted the rod to fit the carb butterfly connection of which was in the wide open position. But I can't seem to get the RPM' controlled by the lever?? Any help would be appreciated. Note: The carb is a rebuilt one.

Thanks Dave. My governor doesn't pertrude out like some that I've seen. This one is behind the timing cover. I'll have to take a look and I'll let you know what I find. Thanks again.

I'm not real sure about the 44, but I'm familiar with the gov. on the F226, (101 Senior, and 44-6. They are very simple governors, and a common problem with them is a sheared pin. It's about 1/8 in diameter, and if they are sheared, there is no control whatsoever of the engine speed. So take it off, take it apart, and check it out.
