Does anyone know how to I.D. a Zenith Carb on a MF 135? The tractor has a 3 CYL engine, Perkins, I believe, and the carb does not have a tag. It does have what appears to be a solenoid on the bottom of the carb bowl, but no wire was attached. (What is the purpose of this? the engines runs without an attached wire?)

I cannot find any numbers on the carb, hence getting a rebuild kit is tough. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The solenoid is there to shut off the main jet to keep the engine from running on after the key is turned off (also called "dieseling"). Since the engine runs without the solenoid hooked up, its probably not working and either stuck open or the tip of the plunger has been cut off. The solenoid should go to the ignition switch to have power when the ignition is on.

My MF-135 parts book says three Zenith carburetors were used on the Perkins gas engine (the three cylinder gas engine). Zenith #013338, Zenith #013338E, and Zenith #013338F. These have MF part numbers 517 099 M91, 517 099 M92, and 517 099 M93.

The solenoid assembly is 520 949 M92 and parts for it are shown.

The same repair kit fits all three, 836 255 M91 or gaskets only 1 508 101 M91. For after market kits it should be sufficient to specify MF-135 Perkins gas engine.

The Continental gas used a MS carburetor and that shut off solenoid was not used.
