Greeting ya'll,
I've got my eye on a senior 101 and i'm trying to put a reasonable price on it.
Can't figure the year on this model. She looks very rough, tin hang'in, missing one of the two tricycle front rims and tire, battery supported by a 2 x 4, throttle linkages of old coat hangers and such.
Runs smooth though with a slight valve knock. Has a draw bar w/ operating PTO. Tranny / clutch works as well.
What is she worth?
How hard are parts to find for this model?
Any advise much appreciated.

Hi Racer Mike

You can have a Ford N series or a Ferguson in relatevely good shape for $2000 with 3 pt
PTO and may install a "little" loader on it.
The Fords and Fergusons have a very short turning
radius conpared to loong for 101's.
Parts for Ford and Fergies are easyer to get.

For the 101 if you plan to put a loader you will have to install an hydraulic pump
and using a loader on a tricycle is not
recommended.

But if you like the 101 and something attract you
in it.. go for it after fixing it you will be proud an happy.

Just my humble opinion

Thanks for the info men !
The man called me back finally and says $850. I countered with $600 and to call when he hadn't received any other offers. I'm looking for this machine to perform light work on my two acre motocross track (pulling discs and brushhog / sickle bar mowing) as well as a winter restoration project.
Am I choosing the right machine ?
Could this model eventually take a wide front and front loader ? I'm guessing that an early model such as this probably wouldn't be the best choice for a loader, What models or brands would be good for loaders?
I still like this model though, I have this attraction for what most would call a beat up piece of junk, and can't wait to dive in and tune it / pretty it up for use.
What to do ?

Sometimes I wonder if it's really worth the extra effort to pick up a tractor that needs so much work (although when it's done a guy probably feels a little more proud of what he's done). My first restoration (101 Junior) was a $100 'winch-on-the-trailer' unit with a cracked block, lousy tires, missing tin, bent tin, wiring ripped apart, etc. Well, I did get it done and it looks good with about $1100 total put into it (by doing everything myself). Later I bought a Cockshutt 30 that was running, all the tin was there (needed work) and had brand new rear rubber. I ended up spending about $850 total and put a ton of less work into it. As they say, just my 2 cents worth.
