Recently purchased a 1972 MF 165 Diesel with Muilipower with only 1100 original hours. It runs excellent and love the tractor but will only go 9 mph in HI 3 when it says it is supposed to go around 18 mph. Has anyone else out there had a similar problem and if so what is the fix. Also don't know if this related or not but it is also hard to shift into gear, and when on a hill and the clutch is in it holds acting like a brake is this normal? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Hi,
Silly question to start perhaps but is the oil level in the transmission correct? Do you have 1,2 and 3 in MP low and 1 and 2 in MP high?
Is your clutch pedal operation OK?
Difficulty in shifting gear can be normal with a MP tractor. Changing to low while you change gear should make it easier.
The Hill-hold feature is normal. It prevents the tractor running backwards when you have a forward gear selected and vice versa.
