cracked transmission casting

I've spent the last few weeks restoring an early 1100 without multi power. new paint, injectors etc.

So I was getting around to the back end and decided to see where that damn oil leak was under the rearend. I figured it was the gasket between the PTO casting and the main transmission casting.

I pulled the drawbar out to get a better looksee and guess what I found. It seems that with the swing type drawbar which attaches to the 3 point arms, the main drawbar pivot weldment contacts the underside of the differential case, when the arms are all the way down or at least when some ?!XXzz^%$#@()*{ knuckle head backs up and drives the drawbar in the dirt.

I drained the oil, pulled the PTO casting and cleaned the crack with gasoline, ether and laquer thinner. Then I epoxied it with a JB Weld cap. While it was drying I noticed what I fear may be another crack running along the center casting line down to the drain plug hole.

I wonder how much stress there is at the base of the differential case? I guess I'll bolt it back together and pray the leak has stopped and the bolts from the PTO case will hold it together.

Anyone else ever run into this problem or is it just my luck?

Any idea what a used transmission casting will cost?

Thanks for the info. It's kind of a toss up as to what happens next. I guess I'll take it out and pull a little and see what developes.
If it doesn't open up then I'll quit worrying. Otherwise there you go.
Thanks again for responding
John
