I had to replace the head gasket on my direct injection MF65, and am at the point where I am ready to adjust the valves. I thought I would roll the engine over to #1 TDC to get a starting point, but can"t find anything that resembles a timing indicator on the crank pully. What is the procedure for getting the moving parts in the right places to get the valve adjustment accomplished?

Another question on this subject: what is the torque for the rocker arm hold down bolts.

Hi, I assume that you hade an AD4.203 engine in your 65.
The clearance is .30mm or .012" cold or .254mm or 010" hot.
Turn the engine in direction of rotation until the valves on No 4 are rocking. This is when both valves are closed. Any movement of the engine from there will cause one of them to begin to open.
No 4 valves rocking, adjust valves on No 1
No 2 valves rocking, adjust No 3
No 1 valves rocking, adjust No 4
No 3 valves rocking, adjust No 2

MF don't give a figure for the rocker hold-down nuts. They are 3/8 unf so about 32 lb/ft should be OK.
