Have my sights on a MF model 10 baler in working order ( a friend of mine has it)..... how much horse should my tractor have to operate this. I have an 8n ford, TO 20 ferguson, Case model 310 and a Minnie Mo RTU.....I am wondering if I have the HP to operate the baler....please let me know. thanks, Mike mCmurray

Hi,any of your tractors will handle that baler H.P.wise,independent PTO would be nice too,but we pulled a 10 for years with a 44 and a super 101. The 10 was the best baler we ever had !Thought we moved up with the other"red and yellow"310,WRONG !
(still pull it with a good ole 44 though)good luck & have fun with it!

Its not so much horse power, its having a two stage/live pto and enough weight to control the baler. If your land is flat and you make the windrows the right size the ford or ferguson would work. That MF bailer is fussy on feed rate, dosn't like light windrows and without the two stage clutch you will have to get used to throwing the shifter in neutral waiting for the bailer to catch up or replacing lots of shear pins and un plugging the packer. Not familiar with the minnie or case so can't help there.

hi,the manual for the 15/20 balers says 30 horse power upwards and 35 to 50 on hilly ground.live drive (2 stage clutch)is a must and diff lock if your land is steep and never try to brake going down steep hills because the ram motion will push you to the bottom.hope this helps
