Hi, has anyone fitted a power steering kit to an MF 165? I have a 212 engine version (Exhaust offside) Also fitted with a Quicke loader. Not sure whether the loader will get in the way of the power steering. Would like advice on type and availability of kits and any experience on fitting

I have a 65 with a loader on it and no p.s. I had checked a tractor salvage yard for a factory unit and they did not have one but said if they did it would cost $500. My plan was to concoct something like you what you are talking about. I found a factory unit on a 65 that the owner was scrapping and got pump and all for $200. Have not installed it yet but it is built so substantially and assuming it is not over engineered I think that the stress the hydraulic cylinder would put on the manual steering arms connected to the front and rear pedestals of the formally manual steering units would be excessive.

Hi,
It depends on which type of kit you are planning to fit. The original MF type one would not present any problems. I believe that most alternative kits take the form of a hydraulic cylinder with integral actuating spool which fits partly in place of the drag link with its anchor point etc.
As the Quickie loader frame is generally close to the engine i think that it would foul at some point.
