Hi, It is either a 32 or 42. The earlier 32 has a
tubular frame for the three pt mt. The 32 also has
a swinging tubular frame that rotates back when
the cutter bar breaks away. The later 42 has a tubular frame but instead of another tubular frame
for the breakaway it just has flat bar that rotates on a tube that acts as a pivot. I know,my
description isn't as good as looking in the books.
Chuck.

Hi, 4 Massey 3 pt mower's serial nos. started with
238. The 31 and 41 were the long belt drive dyna
balance mowers. The 32 and 42 were pitman stick
drive. We'll have to go from here. Chuck

It's a pitman mower ,The only thing else I can tell you that it has two drive belts and the pitman is driven by a flywheel.

I have a 42 pitman that I am rehabbing, put new ledgers and knives and adjusted according to manual, but am having trouble with knife head coming out and hitting the nut on first guard bolt??measured pitman length checked shims and tight bolts and nuts. Has anyone ever had one do this?could it be "sideway" slop or interior ledger wear? seems tight otherwise? thanks! for a tip?
