Hello, I have a late 1950"s MF202 workbull tractor. I recently was loading material with it and heard a clattering noise in the transmission. The tractor killed the engine and would not start unless everthing was in neutral. I loaded it on a trailer and took it to my shop for repair. I removed the top trans. plate and found a chunk of tin balled up in the bottom of the trans. I notice located by the forward & Reverse fork that there is a tab sticking up which looks like this is where the tin was located. I do have the MF-14 I&T manual but it doesn"t show the tin piece nor are the trans. drawings the same as what I have. I believe it may be stop plate or a oil spash guard. could any one help with this so I can get the tractor back to work.

I think it was the oil trough that fasten to the thrust plate in the center divider the gears slings oil into it and it has a hole to let the oil run down to oil the bearings there on the top shaft. to replace it you have to get a new thrust plate

Thanks Dean for the quick reply. Is the trough held on with a machine screw or is it a welded assembly, part of the thrust plate? I noticed above the thrust plate on the center casting housing there is a metal tab with a machine screw holding it into place. Where can I find a drawing of the oil trough/tranny assembly? I do not see it in the I&T manual MF-14. And just one more question I notice it is hard to find MF dealers so without a part # this could be interesting. Does any of your CD"s cover this unit? My grandfather bought the tractor new and I purchased it from him a year ago after I purchased a 12acre farmstead. While growing up I always loved operating the unit with the loader and backhoe. Just maybe it did not like the fact that I buffed and waxed it 2 weeks ago. Trust me it looks good and needed a cleaning. But what good is a broken bull if you can"t ride it.
