Can anyone explain how the 3 point lift is supposed to operate. It appears to only raise after the tractor is moving and then it has very little lifting power. Is there an adjustment that can be made to increase the lifting power? I do not have a manual.

Good Morning.

Our 40 with the instant reverse transmission behaves the same way. The 3-point pump is operated by the main shaft running from the tourque converter into the transmission, and will operate only when the wheels are turning, or with shift levers in neutral with the forward or reverse pedal pushed.

Some 40's had a 2 stage clutch; those should behave more normally.

Low power might be due to low revs? It would be unlikely for the 3-point pump on the tourque converter system to be worn, because it was next to useless for anyone used to the more normal systems! Could also be a plugged filter.

Hope this helps.

Attention Jack in NB. Thanks for the info. It definitely did help. You saved me a lot of work. If it is designed that way, I will not try to fix it. Regards.
