To all of you's guys THANK-YOU so very much for all your very valuable help . Couldn't have even started all my repairs & sort-outs without all the help from this whole site . A special thanks to Davediehl, Aaron , Dave in Wales , young Donovan from Wisconsin , MF Poor & all the rest of you for your help .
Results 100 % success ( well almost ) . My MF 165 4A 212 , 4 cyl Diesel ( 1976 model - I think ) c/w slasher - the problem with the failing hydraulics is now resolved except for a slow creep , so it might be a seal or two. Am not sure . Any ideas chaps ? Slasher slowly lowers itself to the ground the minute I shut down the tractor . I'll be a bit slow doing/answering for a short while what with this extreme low/cyclone just 400 ks north of us . Need to securely tie-down all 20 of my aviaries & clean-up the property just in case we get another cyclone like the 2 last year . Having expressed my greatest gratitude to you all let me raise ( quickly ) 2 other subjects . 1/ Can't find out what tire pressure to put in front & back . Am sure it matters a lot for safety & tire wear as the tractor weighs about 5800 kgs , without water in tires and front weights which I need to keep the front wheels on the ground in this rather hilly , mostly wet Tropical rainforest of ours . 2/ ROPS - David in Wales - nice pictures but I'm wondering with the weight of my MF 165 ? would they really work in stopping me getting squashed - Not sure how I make sure they will work or where to bolt them on - so I come out alive if I roll it . Any assistance will surely be a big help in me seeing 70 . Got far to much to do to stop now !! thanks from Australia - James .

Glad to hear I helped. As far as a grill guard, I've seen some listed on ebay for the earlier Massey's and Ford N's, and I've seen some of those made to fit on 165's. I would imagine jsut about anything would be better than nothing, but it should be some-what easy to remove or still get behind the grill to wash out the radiator and to fix the power steering if you ever have to.

It is normal for Massey 3 pts. to slowly creep down when you shut the tractor off. The heavier the implement the faster it will creep. Dave

Hello all,
First of all ask yourself a question. Why do I want the hydraulics to stay up when the engine is not running? From a safety aspect any implement should be lowered to the ground. Yes, we do all leave them up. The reason for the linkage falling is leaks in the system. The most common place is past the poppet valves in the pump ot through damaged O rings in the stack pipe. If you have an isolating valve fitted (under the seat) then this will seal off any leaks in the bottom end. The other common place for a leak is on the cylinder rings under the hydraulic cover. In extreme cases the system will 'pulse' as the pump attempts to replace oil being lost.

Was hoping someone would say something nice like that & not &%^+$$'s & more $'s - tear it all apart . Next help - guys - PLEASE - What kind of extra ( very ) strong front grill/pusher/screen do I fit onto the front of my MF 165 - - as I've just managed to push the right headlite & grill into the radiator ( blinken clever & dexterous of me NOT WOW should have seen the water geyser from the drivers seat . Darn that but had a wash & shampoo for my trouble . It'll take weeks to fix it just this once and then build a bullet-proof front guard come push grill . Has everyone got some design ideas please !!
