Just rebuild a 135 gas continental. Everything went together OK and the tractor starts and runs fine, but the power steering pump hammers. It almost sounds like a tooth off the timing gears. When the steering pump is removed and the tractor started the sound disappears. The steering pump was completely drained of oil and sat on the bench for three weeks. After placing it on the tractor I refilled it with type "A" fluid and turned the steering wheel to the left and right a couple of times to get all the air out. If I turn the steering wheel all the way to the right or left and hold it tight to the stop the hammering sound goes away. Can I still have air in the system? How long does it take for all the trapped air to work its way out? All suggestions appreciated, Thanks in advance!!
