I"m having trouble with the clutch adjustment on my 1085. I came to a point to where it seemed like the adjustment was out, and the clutch seemed to slip when I was pulling a 15"disc harrow. So I adjusted the free travel like the book said with the .125 free travel between the lever and the transmission boss. Then, the other day I was using a sickle mower, and pushed in the pedal and the tractor kept going!! If you would ride along and depress the pedal It would keep right on moving even riding the brakes.I discovered that If I "bump" the brake pedal hard 1 time, then the clutch seems to disengage. So, I went back and made sure the free travel was right, and made sure the actual position of the pedal was where the book said it should be.It still fails to disengage it seems.Sometimes the gears kinda crash when shifting, other times seems to shift smooth.Multipower seems real strong. It tries to pop a wheelie when shifting from low to high:No problems there. Is this clutch damaged? Is there possibly debris on the clutch sufaces? Did I plow in too high of a gear, and burn up the clutch?

Sorry for all of the stupid questions.

Any help would greatly appreciated

Thanks Dale in Carolina

Sounds like your clutch is worn, or sticking inside of your fly wheel. I replaced the clutch in mine a few years back and put in a relined clutch disc. After a few hours of operating, the clutch would stick inside the flywheel and I kept trying to adjust it out. I finally just put in a new disc and the problem went away.

Thanks Big Marv. Is there any way to take a look in there without splitting? Also, I cant seem to adjust it to where the 1/8" free travel is correct, and the pedal movement is correct at the same time. It"s almost like I don"t have enough pedal travel to properly disengage.

Dale
