What would I need to add a power steering system to a MF 35 gas tractor?

You might try Jackson Power Steering. They make aftermarket PS units for old tractors.

I do not know if they have a unit for your 35 but I've seen pictures of units on less common models.

You will need the power steering hydraulic pump and its reservoir, that fits your engine. You will need a power steering pedestal with the power steering cylinder on its front side, the control valve on the steering column (which works on slight rise and fall of the steering wheel shaft), and hoses. Some gear boxes may have ports for the power steering cylinder covered with a plate. When I priced that cylinder alone from MF 15 years ago it was nearly $500. My good machine shop was able to restore the guts of the broken original for much less.

It would be far easier to swap for a tractor with power steering from the factory or take up weight lifting.
