Hello,
My problem started yesterday with the pto on my MF 180 while using the post hole digger for some new fence posts. It seems to stop spinning when under a load. It will freespin with no load but as soon as I put the auger into the ground it will stop spinning, lift it up and will start spinning again...What is going on where? Is it the clutch? 1967 MF 180 236 perkins deisel with multipower and live pto.
Thanks for any help,Jim

The PTO clutch disc is slipping. The MF180 could have either the independent PTO that can be engaged without using the clutch and only has on and off with this one the tractor has to be split between transmission and rear center housing to make repairs to it. The manual PTO with a two stage clutch has engine and ground speeds and the clutch pedal has to be pushed all the way down to engage the PTO The tractor has to be split between the engine and the transmission to replace the PTO disc on those. If I can be of further help email me

Hi Dean,
I have your repair disk that I purchased from you several months ago. It has lots of valuable information on it which I am still sorting through.I still have the multipower seals that are leaking in MP high,so I guess I will have two issues to deal with while it is split. My MF 180 has the manual pto so I will be splitting it between the engine and trans. Is there anything else I should be looking at while I have it split?? Thanks for your help..Jim
