One unusual aspect of the 35's PTO is that there are two selections: the shifter on the left side of the transmission is out of gear in the middle. Raise it to engage the regular PTO. If you lower the shifter you will engage "ground-speed pto" where the shaft turns in relation and direction to ground speed, rather than to engine revolutions. Most experienced hands advise not using the ground speed setting at all, except occasionally for unsticking a fence post auger by jacking up a back wheel and reversing.

Great tractor, even with the redundant PTO selection.

Mine has a single stage clutch, push it in and everything stops. You can tell from the serial number what it is. Mine is SGF 226903 those letters
at the beginning tell the story.

There are some MF35"s with a single clutch. Stops the transmission and the PTO. Two stage is what you want. You can change gear without slowing the PTO down.

I believe the MF-35 has a live pto. It has a double clutch .One clutch connects the driveline to the engine and the othere connects the engine to the pto. When you step part way down on the clutch pedal, you disconnect the drive line clutch, leaving the pto running or "live". When you step all the way down you disconnect the pto.

Jerry and Jeffrey, that is correct. At least that's how my MF 35 works.
