I have a 1959 Massey Ferguson TO-35 Gas tractor. How can I tell if it is a GAS SPECIAL or a GAS DELUXE? What was the difference between the two?

Thanks,

Trent

Main difference is the two stage clutch. put your p.t.o selector into "engine" speed and let upon clutch-should be spinning. Now,place tractor into low 1st gear-start moving forward. Push clutch 1/2 way down, tractor will STOP moving, BUT p.t.o. should still be spinning. Push clutch rest of way down, NOW p.t.o. should also stop--IF SO, you have two-stage clutch. If clutch stops both tractor and p.t.o. only, then single clutch. Others signs of DELUXE,(but not always true) is larger pan seat with cushion on bottom and back, 4 guages on you dash in stead of 2. Most obvious is large hole in middle for trachtometer.-the reason I said "not always true" is many parts gets swapped back and forth over the years.
Main thing you want is the 2 stage clutch. Mark
