Mine leaked as well when I got it two years ago. Remove the instruments and the wheel and the flanged housing from the top of the gear. You do not need to remove the gear and cylinder. The seal is easily replaced with proper tools. Take the flange and new seal to a machine shop and they will replace it for you if you aren"t familiar with the practice. It has worked well ever since. It took about 2 to 3 hours if I remember right.

There is a seal up there. I cracked the column housing punching mine out with a long rod, You need to be sure of pushing only on the seal. My parts book says its MF numbeer 1 751 701 M1. Looks like it is somewhere towards the bottom of the steering shaft housing which you will have to take off the steering valve (after you remove the steering wheel and the dash of the tractor) to reach it. As I recall the seal wasn't hard to find from MF, but it took a machine shop to fix the housing flange that I broke. Its worked fine for me ever since.

The valve is shown disassembled in the parts book and in the I&T manual.
