The generator on my MF85 has gone out and I have several different kinds of alternators lying around, I was wondering what it involved in converting to an alt, this is a 12 volt system. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks JR

Generally Delco alternators prefer to turn faster than generators, but come with narrow pulleys. It is possible to buy small diameter wide width pulleys at an automotive electric shop to fit the alternators.

You need a mounting bracket to fit the alternator or an extension on the alternator itself to make it the length of the generator.

You need a regulator to match the alternator (which can be internal) and sometimes a provision for excitation.

If the MF-85 takes a tachometer drive from the back of the generator you need an electronic tachometer, probably. Its a pain to arrange for another mechanical drive.
