Turns out it is flooding from fuel in the air-intake hose. I pulled it off this morning and a couple of ounces of gas spilled out. When I put it back on and hit the button the engine leaped to life in the normal manner.

The guy who fixes my tractors suggested shutting the gas off at night, but the stop-cock doesn't work. The gas still drips.

Suggestions?

Rod

Always a good idea to shut off the gas when you park any tractor. As far as your shut off not working thats a simple $20 fix, just buy a new sediment bowl assembly and install it.

I would say the float level in your carb is set to high and as a result the excess fuel is going the path of least resistance which is back thru the pipe & hose attached to the carb going to the air cleaner.

Take the carb off and adjust your float,so not
quite as much gas will be in the carb.

Also check the needle and seat in the carb where the fuel enters. Sometimes the seat could be worn,or a piece of dirt may become trapped between the needle and seat causing extra fuel to
run in.
