My master control spring has evidently failed. I set the adjusting bolt under the lift cover per Big Deans cd. It still won"t pick up a load without using chains in place of the top link.
I can"t get the large nut off. Stopped short of using acetylene torch to heat.
Since I don"t plow much, would it hurt anything to weld the yoke where it won"t push in on the master spring?
I would leave it so I could easily grind the weld off if I ever had to remove it.
I keep it in a barn so replacing the rubber boot isn"t too much of a concern.
Thanks
Dan

Hello,
Have you slackened the grub screw at the 3 0'clock position on the rear of the cover?
With the DRAFT lever in the down position have you got endfloat on the top link linkage?
Don't worry about sensible use of an acetylene torch to warm the casting. I have had to resort to it many times. Try and keep the heat away from the nut. The correct peg spanner is best but hopefully something like a 3/8 or 1/2" punch would shift it. The worst that you can do with sensible use is to burn the rubber boot.

Hello DavidP
I have removed the screw all together- surprisingly, it came out easy. Built up false hopes for a easy job.

I will check on endfloat with lever down. the whole thing seems pretty loose inside.

Define " sensible use" to a Ozark hillbilly from Missouri!!!!
So you wouldn"t recommend welding it solid.
My fear is that if I hit something solid there wouldn"t be any give and it would break the lift cover.
Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan,
Sensible use of the torch would be to heat the area around the nut up well but no-where near red. Try and turn the nut with careful use of a punch. If you can move it...great! Walk away and let it go stone cold before you try to go any further. Try it again. If it won't move heat again and do the same.
